Vote In Our New American Horror Story Coven Poll! If You Could Have A Witchy Power…

How many times have you been watching a witch on American Horror Story Coven doing something an ordinary person can’t and thought, You know, that’d come in pretty handy a few times. I know I have. Being able to do something you’d normally get in trouble for (nothing too horrible) and then telling whoever saw it or helped you, “I’d thank you, but of course you won’t remember any of this” like Fiona can? Or just wave someone inconvenient out of the room? Yeah, that’d be pretty cool. Looking like I was thirty or so for decades after that would be pretty sweet, too. However, that’s when the longtime horror fan in me kicks in. I’ve been reading 50s EC Comics since the 80s, which would be enough to scare me off magical anti-aging cures as it is. Combine that with seeing even more mainstream movies like Death Becomes Her, and my brain will remind me of way too many ways that could go horribly, horribly wrong. Plus, there’s usually a huge price to pay for it (selling your soul being the most common).  Many of Stephen King’s best books –take Carrie, The Dead Zone, Firestarter, and The Shining (all of which I’ve also been re-reading since the 80s), for example– teach readers that mind-reading, pyrokinesis, and telekinesis have a serious dark side.  Let’s not over-think it, though, and go with the American Horror Story Coven rules for these powers  (some of which Coven has already showed us the ways these powers can backfire, especially if you need intensive training on how to control them).   Whose power/s are you REALLY envious of?  Tell Horror Boom in this poll, then see the results so far, and don’t worry, your anonymity is perfectly safe; even the person in charge of everything (that’d be Mrs. Horror Boom here) couldn’t ID you. Have fun!

New American Horror Story Coven Poll – Who Do You Think Will Be The New Supreme? Vote Now!

Ryan Murphy has stated that we won’t find out who the new Supreme is until January, when the last couple of episodes–or maybe even the Coven finale–air. Lots of guesses are floating around. Strangely, I see a few up-to-date polls that list Madsion (just a couple percentages away) equal to Zoe, and much over Misty Day. Let’s find out what you fellow fans of American Horror Story Coven have to say. Oh, and you can vote twice. I’ll be keeping this poll open for several weeks, or until we officially find out. You can vote more than once, because with every episode, we get more clues, reveals, and misdirections that might make you change your vote. Dig in-and don’t be shy with your write-in votes, either!

Take The First American Horror Story Coven Poll, We Wanna Know What You Think!

UPDATE: Welp, most of you guys were right on the money! It was  indeed Ms. Snow. On American Horror Story Coven, though, being burned at the stake doesn’t always equal dead… not if Misty Day is around! Good call, everyone.

Screen shot 2013-11-08 at 1.37.49 AM

This one should have gone up a couple of days ago due to the fact the episode we’re asking your opinion/prediction on will have aired 24 hours from now. So, now’s your chance to make a call on this one. You stay anonymous. Hell, you can not only vote more than once (not that we’re asking you to), you can pick two answers if you’ve got it narrowed down to either/or. Oh, and you can choose ‘other’ and write in your own vote/theory …we encourage you making your own case!

Now! So, in the preview for “Burn Witch Burn,” we see that a witch (or at least we assume it is one) is indeed burned at the stake. We know it can’t be Fiona, since she apparently starts the fire with flair by tossing her cig at it. Later in the preview we see her turn and stalk away. So if it’s not Jessica Lange, as Fiona, who do you think it’ll be?

We’ll know in less than 24 hours who does get burned, but no reason not to vote up until you see the episode. Also, you’ll be able to yell out “CALLED IT!” when you see it on air.

When would YOU get the hell out of the house in The Conjuring?

A very valid question! Yeah, I think the birds would do it for me (if not before then). Take the quiz (but beware of MAJOR spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie yet – and if you haven’t, we highly recommend you do)! By the way, take some time to check out Renae Rude’s amazing blog, The Paranormalist — recommended, and often creepy, reading!

Renae Rude - The Paranormalist

Nearly every haunted house movie begins the same way – a middle-class family invests every penny they have in an old fixer-upper.  There is a married couple, a child (or children,) a cat and/or a dog. There is often (though not always) something a little dysfunctional or unusual about the family. Communication is these families is usually spotty at best. The husband and wife don’t confide in each other. The parents ignore unusual behavior by the kids or the animals, and don’t give credence to anything odd the kids say. The family is full of hope. It’s a brand-new, high-stakes, fresh-start for everyone.

Then bad things start to happen.

Ogre and I just got back from seeing The Conjuring. It’s a great movie in many ways, destined to become a horror classic.

But …

I could not help but ask myself the same question I always do when I see another…

Vote! American Horror Story Asylum – What Was Your Favorite Episode(s)? We Want To Know!

SPOILER WARNING!
If you haven’t seen the entire season, still plan to, and want to go in clean, skip this and wait to vote until after you watch ’em!

Well, the budget here at Horror Boom is oh, let’s say we round it off, and ….we’re gonna go with zero at this point. That means we have to pay an extra $80 if you want to present more than ten options for any kind of poll. So,  we can only list ten episodes, and had to cut out three- which has hard to do, but we went with Episode One- “Welcome To Briarcliffe”, Episode Two – “Tricks and Treats”, and episode 12 – “Continuum”. It’s not that they wer’nt good episodes; we just did some thinking and were pretty sure than they weren’t going to be in the running for best or favorite episode. There was just SO much more going on in the other ten, starting in “Nor’eastr” (Episode 3) – we saw the Raspers, for the first time, Sister Mary Eunice’s possession started to pick up speed, Sister Jude got hammered right before movie night, and we got the first (and only) actual look at the alien other than seeing flashes of long , freaky, insectile arms  legs  appendages later in the season. Plus, Shelley’s true descent into Hell began in the final scene of the episode with the first truly shocking, disturbing reveal of the season …the first of many, MANY more to come.

After that, American Horror Story Asylum just put the goddamned pedal to the metal and kept it floored, not easing off for a moment.  Meanwhile, we viewers quickly realized were being treated to a pitch dark roller-coaster of a ride where you couldn’t see something coming at you until right before when it was already WAY too late to stop in time. They had carefully planned the route, but didn’t warn us before the really dangerous stuff)–sharp turns and dangerous driving that made our hearts pound and buckle up our seat belts instantly and hastily,  trying not to panic about the fact that a head-on collision could occur at any moment. They then smoothly and wisely began backing down to the speed limit and thinking about the best route to the exit ramp on the penultimate episode, “Continuum”, where story lines took time jumps (in the case of Jude, a real nightmare of one), the finish line was in sight, we got closure on a couple of things, only to wrap up on the season finale (I keep wanting to call it ‘series finale’, since each season is self-contained and considered a novel of its own). All our questions were answered, we got closure (including the end of one character’s life that had Mrs. Horror Boom here so emotional she burst into tears and had to pause the episode for a goof ten minutes before fast-forwarding through the commercial break and onto the next act), and some great slow-burn pay-offs. Didn’t realize this till it got written down here just now, but there wasn’t much, if any, gore. in the finale. So what, though? It WORKED, and that’s all that matters!

As usual, you can vote on up to three (even we  have trouble even narrowing it down to that) of what you personally thought were the best, most memorable episodes of American Horror Story Asylum. Also, there’s room for write-in votes as usual (all anonymous; we don’t even bother to block repeat votes, so there’s no cookies or IP addresses tracked) in case your favorite episode wasn’t included in the top ten. We included a link right here to the IMDB episode guide for the entire season right here,  in case you’re not sure which episode  title which major event happens in.  Here’s the poll- vote away, and we’ll present the winners and runners-up in early February. Now, please exercise your right to vote below!

For the record, we voted for “I am Frank Part 2”, “Origins of Monstrosity”, and “Dark Cousins” tying with the finale, “Madness Ends”,  and there wasn’t a  dull or predictable moment in “The Name Game” either, and.… damn, this is just too hard!

Another Poll For American Horror Story Asylum Fans: Favorite Recurring Briarcliff Manor Guest Star – We Wanna Know Your Picks!

OK, I guess Pepper was closer to a guest role on the show than a regular character (as far as screen time), but there was no way I was going to leave her off the “Characters You’ll Miss Most” poll! This time, tell us your favorite–or most memorable– guest in a recurring role, because there were some real  show-stoppers!

And there was  no way we were going to leave Pepper off this list, either. We seriously considered putting in the character of “Spivey” as a “featured rasper”, even thought about adding the alien/s, but a human didn’t portray them.

I’m reasonably certain no last-minute surprises guest spots or cameos are coming up, but with this show you never know, so I’ll re-post if, say, Connie Britton pops up. Also, Spivey may not have been a featured rasper, and I can’t deny or confirm yet if he was the “kitchen rasper”. He was in the premiere, then “Origins of Monstrosity”, but unless he was a featured rasper, for now he’s not in the running.

So vote away! Same rules as “character you’ll miss most” poll – you can vote for up to three choices.

American Horror Story Asylum Fans, Sound Off! Poll: With Only The Finale Left, Who Will You Miss Most?

Though characters have been dropping dead (or killing each other/themselves) since New Year’s, who will you miss the most after the story has ended? Note: not all characters here are heroes and heroines, some are just so evil they could be entertaining. A couple, let’s face it, needed to die. Also, some got killed off before this poll was created. We’d really like to know who you’re going to miss.

I miss her already!

I miss HER already! How about you?

We know it’s hard to trim it down to one character, so vote for up to three. Due to the fact we didn’t have room for more than ten, we couldn’t put separate categories for, say, Sister Jude and Judy Martin, or Sister Mary Eunice and demon-possessed Sister Mary Eunice. We’re pretty sure we covered it all, but there’s room for you to write-in your vote if we missed someone.   If we get a lot of response to this, we have several more fun polls (Scariest Scene? Most Shocking Moment? Nastiest Death? Character most likely to appear in your nightmares? Sexiest Scene?) that were really fun to jot down. Hey, we’re more than happy to have the First Only Annual American Horror Story Asylum Viewer’s Choice Awards and post the winners.  Shit, I’ll post polls myself every day, no shortage there!

Either way, start with our poll here and tell us who you’ll miss seeing every week on American Horror Story Asylum!

Oh, and it’s anonymous. If there’s more than a couple write-in votes, we’ll put a second one up for recurring (recurring=shows up in two or more episodes) characters (Shelley, Bloody Face Jr., Leigh “Psycho Santa” Emerson, Percy the compulsive masturbator guy,  Frank, etc.). Vote away, please!

Fellow American Horror Story Asylum Fans, DO NOT MISS This Winter FINALE SCOOP For “The Coat Hanger” – This Week The “Most Batshit Crazy Episode Yet!” Airs (Episode 9)

Holy shit,  don’t miss these five teases from Tim Stack at EW.com. We believe him when he says “it’s that good”.  TWO pregnancies! Pepper the Pinhead returns (and a little birdie has told us where she was)! The Angel of Death (Frances Conroy) shows up again and takes a character with her “last kiss”.  Hot damn, set those DVRs now.

Click here to take our poll – vote on who you think will be leaving Briarcliff for good (and you can predict up to three characters,  since we’re guessing there’s more than one death). We know who we do NOT want to leave…

sistermarydancingqueenOOM_AHSA.jpg

The show will return with the last four episodes of the season January 2nd, 2013! Episode Ten is titled, “The Name Change”.

Poll: Who Do You Think Is Going To Drop Next On American Horror Story Asylum? (Spoilers) Tell Us Below – We Wanna Know!

Soooo,  the next episode, “The Coat Hanger” (that isn’t going to be pretty) airs this Wednesday, December 12th – then there’s going to be a break until January, when they’ll run the last four episodes.*  So… well… five more episodes… (sniffle). However, from what Murphy said in this recent, juicy interview (spoilers for “Unholy Night”, and the episodes before it) that there would be FOUR big cliffhangers. I do know one of the characters listed is going to die, but my money is on more than one. I just hope it’s not anyone who’s been extra-entertaining lately. You can vote for up to three below. This show is very  hard to second-guess – even if you strongly sense what is coming, we always get surprised by the why and how.

So get a-voting, since we want to know what you think. AND, the “Ten Things We Learned …” for Episode 8, Unholy Night, is almost here. Your writer/editor here went to a holiday party Saturday night and had quite a bit of fun, and quite a bit of “cider” and “Christmas cheer” (I’m not turning down free vodka shots in this economic climate, especially coming from other friends there, old and new, also feeling very hammered festive)**  so that’s why the Sat/Sun deadline didn’t get met. Thanks for being so patient! We’ll make up for it, promise… we’ve been gathering semi-rare behind-the-scenes goodies and galleries for American Horror Story Asylum all night.

*I’ll get you the air dates after I find them, I  DO know there’s no episode on 12/19; Ryan Murphy says the final four episodes will roar into the new year in January. The last I looked, the IMDB page was out of date, but it did give one upcoming episode title, “Spilled Milk”. Huh… sensing a pattern here… and it’s going to be fucking awesome!

**BIG thanks to anyone reading this who helped me get on and off the stage in 5-inch go-go boots without falling on my ass in front of everybody–you know who you are!

Exclusive (From /Film): ‘Django Unchained’ Mini Game Lets You Become Bounty Hunter Dr. King Schultz

There was NO WAY I was going to let this slip by you guys! Click on the below link to check it out, and enjoy!

Exclusive: ‘Django Unchained’ Mini Game Lets You Become Bounty Hunter Dr. King Schultz.

By the way, when you see “Exclusive” in a subject line or title, that means I “Pressed” (a feature of Word Press) or re-blogged it. Usually the system doesn’t let me edit anything in the title, or I’d either take out the exclusive or say who is was the exclusive was from. So unless you see “Horror Boom Exclusive!” that means I hit “Press This” and/or re-blogged it. Just pointing this out because I don’s want anyone thinking I’m some horrible plagiarizing hack by claiming I came up with the exclusive.  We good? Oh, and in the “Related Articles” section, there’s some killer links for you to check out, as far as the soundtrack to the movie and a comic boo, that I didn’t even know was happening.
